The Garden of Gethsemane

Pictures From Israel (Circa May 2005)

The caption underneath each picture describes the scene.

A Plaque at the entrance to the Garden of Gethsemane.

Self Explanatory

This plaque depicts the story of the disciples abandoning Jesus.

These Olive trees are very old. It's been said that an olive tree will never die. it will come up again from the roots. These trees were evidence of that virtue.

Look at the size of that trunk!

Part of the building, more trees and flowers. There is a gift shop to the left, IIRC.

A garden in Israel is not what we would normally call a garden. It is not about growing food, It is about growing something beautiful.

Pretty much everything in Israel is made with this stone.

This is the path down into the Kidron Valley. you will hear the name of it many times in the Old Testament.

I can't remember exactly what this is, but I think it was something King David set up in  remembrance of Absalom.

IIRC, this is something Solomon set up. If you have the definitive answer for this (and an accessible reference) Please let me know what this is. All the other many holes we saw in the rocks were other tombs of unknown age and origin.

We have more pictures than we will be able to put on the site with our current budget constraints. If you copy the picture to your computer, you will be able to blow them up considerably as they were taken with a 7.1 megapixel camera.

All pictures were taken by Pastor William Johnson, and all copyrights belong to him. These pictures may be freely copied and distributed as long as they are not sold for profit, and the pictures are attributed to Pastor Johnson.
