Introduction:

In this bible study we will show you the biblical plan of salvation. You may have heard that all you have to do to be saved is to "believe", or to “make a decision" to follow Christ. We are going to show you the things which the bible, in actuality, says are necessary in order to be saved. (Please read the following passage)

2 Peter 1:18-21

18: And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

19: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21: For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

What this tells you is that we are to follow biblical doctrine. No man is to change the bible to meet their doctrine; they are to change their doctrine to match the bible. The bible interprets itself and all we need to do in order to understand the bible is to study it for ourselves. (Please read the following passage)

2 Timothy 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

What this tells you is that the only way to gain Godly wisdom is from the scriptures of God Almighty. Any other wisdom is earthly; created by man who is fallible. We need to trust to the infallible God who created the heavens and the earth. He alone can supply us with wisdom and salvation. This is why we look throughout His word for the full biblical plan of salvation. (Please read the following passage)

Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

What this tells you is that you can't build a doctrine on a single scripture. Otherwise you might be taking things out of context. You need to read the passage in which the scripture in question is located to insure that it is not being taken out of context. Then you need search for all the other scriptures in the bible that relate to the subject in question. Then and only then can you know for sure what the bible teaches on a given subject. (Please read the following passages)

Deuteronomy 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

2 Corinthians 13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

By reading the above biblical texts; along with the verse from Isaiah, we have established the criteria for proper biblical doctrine. As we go through this study we will give you a minimum of two or three witnesses for the biblical standard of salvation. If you want more, we have plenty more. There is a large amount of biblical text in relations to this subject.

There are six things that must be done in order to be saved. They are as follows:

1.    You must believe that Jesus Christ is your savior.

2.    You must confess your sins to God; and that Jesus Christ is your savior before men.

3.    You must repent of your sins.

4.    You must have faith that Jesus Christ is able to; and will save you.

5.    You must be baptized by full immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins.

6.    You must be baptized in the Holy Ghost with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.
